Seed starting chamber, with tray rack . Design was intended to fit in a hoophouse.
Tray racks in place. The ducting is to channel heater air into the bottom of the box.
Domed top will allow seedlings to reach 12" before hitting the plastic. Ends are plywood "D" shape with a cutout. Register boards on the sides keep the top from slipping off.
Finished chamber, with bubble wrap attached to the plastic canopy.
Temperature can be regulated by moving the heater closer or farther away, or canting the flow to one side if necessary. The process is so touchy that I replaced the heater with 4 100W bulbs placed in the chamber, under the tray racks, regulating the temperature by the number of bulbs turned on. Much easier and more stable. It also requires less power.
Chamber in its own taller low tunnel.
The crossbar restraining the end hoops can be seen here, and the ties attaching the plastic to the tunnel.
