week 1, adolescentes. There was a group cake-making activity - chaos!
but fun
Erika with her pan ready to be baked
all cell phones had to be handed over, they were allowed 2 5-minute sessions a day
a craft courtesy of the Canadian group - beads
part of a painted banner
a Canadian activity - a version of cross country skiing
a slip & slide on the beach
washing off the outer layer of sand
that crazy "dizzy" game again
these 2 fell asleep like this on the beach
a very long walk one morning
a stop to have breakfast....
...and devotions...
and then walk a lot further to play games, and then all the way back to camp!

week 2 - the Bastion children
"colours day", faces all painted with their team's colour
Miguel patiently helping with a craft
"hora loca" - everybody having a blast dancing to a crazy song
off to the beach
a lot of very small people in very large waves
here come the sunset pictures!

week 3 - local children from around camp
learning stuff that was all new to them - songs, games, bible stories
the ice cream man, joining right in!
an illustrated Bible story, the lame man about to be let through the roof (they didn't really!)
fishermen bringing in a net, accompanied by hundreds of frigate birds
tie dying t-shirts, the craft from the New Jersey team
another round of "hora loca"
Jorge taking a break from cleaning duties
all the kids were buried in the sand..
leaving nothing but heads showing, an unnerving sight unless you knew what was happening!

this is classic Jorge
the group of kids from Arenal, the area right around the camp
3 friends
week 3 - the older youth. The cell phone-round up again

Lucho & his shadow
the other crazy game that won't go away
a bunch of hermit crabs
lots of chifles...
...to go with yummy encebollado

I came up from the beach one afternoon to find this - a big soccer game between Ecuador and I forget where, they had somehow rigged up a TV to the computer to the projector...it ended in a tie, all very disappointing!
very intense!
2 days later the boy on the far right was doing back flips and broke both bones in his arm - "tomboy" indeed!
an old fashioned "sword drill"
we had official life guards from Playas for this last week, it felt much better to have them there
cooking on our lovely brand new barbeque
the special bbq'd dinner - chicken, sausage, and rice of course!
the cooks for the week (and me, I helped). I'm really not that tall, it's just that they're, well, not very tall at all!
4 of the 6 guys who came from Onzole
the whole group for that last week
